Generation Flux – love it!
// May 4th, 2012 // No Comments » // Uncategorized
In a recent Fast Company article by Robert Safarin the term Generation Flux was introduced.
I personally LOVE the term. It may be my denial of mid life crisis but hope instead there is a resonance in the community for the existence of a cohort ( I would suggest this is a cohort perhaps vs “generation” ) that thrive in the presence of chaos. I would take a step further and suggest we can be defined by our ability to recognize, tolerate and in fact thrive in an environment that is constantly changing. Todays state of affairs personifies “the only constant is change” and it is just going to get more chaotic in my humble opinion. so as a business and/or individual – what do you do?
Well take a look at the Fast Company article and feel free to share your opinions and ideas here ![]()

Virtual worker – new ways of working presentation
// April 21st, 2012 // No Comments » // Uncategorized
As you know I am often out and about presenting on new technology, social media and industry trends.
My latest presentation was delivered on the topic of New Ways of Working – virtual work and opportunities for rural lifestyle communities. For those that attended the presentation is available at http://portal.sliderocket.com/ARUMD/New-Ways-of-Working-2012-amber-hayes
Feel free to comment or contact me directly with questions feedback etc.
I look forward to offering this presentation again as I strongly believe in the economic development potential of the mobile workforce choosing to work from a rural location.
Enjoy the slides though admittedly much of the statistics and conclusions were verbalized (for those who attended contact me and I will give you a reference sheet to more resources and links

KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET and appeal to it
Mashable does this in every way possible – every single time – with every aspect of their website.
They know their demographic – in this case – me .. and they deliver.
Great stats, breaking stories, useful information every minute of the day.
Its useful becuase it very focused (on the industry I am in) and very high quality – so i can trust it.
They make is soooooo easy for me to share – every article has easy peasy icons for me to zip along and share on all my fav platforms
and they make me laugh … like this ridiculous 404 page I just hit.
Not everyone would laugh at this ..but I did and I suspect my close network will get it too.
Do I love Mashable – you bet I do.
Do I talk about mashable …yup.. I take it one step further I even use them as a model “what works” in my classes.
Am I going to share this fine 404 page image – OF COURSE I am !
And I will file this yet again as an example of how the little details of what makes your target market tick can get your message carried just a little further out there in the social media space.
(a little further out and you just might bump into Keanu ![]()

Since I have been working and posting from the chairlift for the last few months and given the end of the ski season it is on to another topic.
Virtual workers – what are they?
How does it work?
Is it a positive thing?
What tools and knowledge are required etc…..
I am obviously a supporter of the virtual work and zero commute.
Good for the environment, good for the bottom line and good for the creative mind.
I will be doing a post every couple days on the how to’s and what to considers…
Of course we are always here to customize the journey for you and/or your organization as well!
